Siesta Key Escape – Private Room

Never Stay :-( Positive: The location and easy access to the house is very good. Neighborhood is calm, quiet and safe. Negative: When I made the reservation, it clearly stated that “Breakfast is included in the final price.” Unfortunately, no breakfast was provided during our stay. Although the owner refunded a small amount, it was not sufficient, and more importantly, I had to arrange breakfast myself — something that was not planned when we started our trip. Second, the confirmation specifically indicated that the accommodation included a private bathroom. However, the house had five rental rooms sharing only one bathroom, which means the bathroom was actually shared. The owner did not initially acknowledge this issue until I showed the confirmation details. My wife and I deliberately chose this place because a private bathroom was important for us, so this was a major disappointment. Another issue was the absence of an electric kettle, which was also listed in the confirmation. We travel often and like to drink black tea at breakfast and throughout the day. When I asked about it, the owner suggested using the coffee machine to boil water, which was clearly not an equivalent solution. When we arrived, an elderly couple staying in the house asked us to help find the remote control. My wife and I searched drawers and common areas but could not find it. Three days later, the owner responded that the remote was “on the table” and blamed us for not seeing it, which felt unfair and unnecessary. Although the neighborhood itself felt safe, the sound insulation of the house was very poor. People were coming and going during the night, and it was impossible to know who was entering or leaving. Most importantly, our room door could not be locked from inside, which made me feel unsafe and seriously affected my sleep because I had to stay alert to the main entrance throughout the night. Overall, due to these multiple issues and the misleading information in the listing, I cannot recommend this property to other travelers.
